Not Norbeck Rd here, but where's the pedestrian path? |
My mom just e-mailed me to say that she saw two people walking on Norbeck Road this afternoon 09/01/2011 during the lunch-hour.
My mom wanted to whip out her iPhone and take pictures and film them as they walked on the road toward their destination. But there were no shoulders or safety zones for her to pull over safely so she had to keep on driving.
According to her, the pedestrians she saw on Norbeck Road were two (2) different people trudging up Norbeck both in places where there was not an extra inch of room for safety. These people would have appreciated a dedicated and separate pedestrian/bike path so they could travel on foot safely and without worry of getting hit by a passing vehicle. Please call Jeremy Beck of the Maryland State Highway Administration (SHA) at 410-545-8518 and demand that SHA upgrade Norbeck Road with a pedestrian/bike path before a pedestrian or bicyclist gets hit and injured or killed. Also, the presence of pedestrians and bicyclists on Norbeck Road forces drivers to slow down or swerve into the oncoming lane, which could cause rear-end accidents and head-on collisions. It could be your friend, neighbor, or family member driving, walking, or biking on Norbeck Road that gets into an accident. So pick up that phone and call SHA to demand it take action!
Enjoy the Labor Day Weekend and please drive, bike, and walk safely.
