Was the East Norbeck Local Park renamed Bradford Park? |
To my astonishment, the East Norbeck Local Park, which is often referred to as ENLP by the friendly folks at the ICC Project Office and Maryland State Highway Administration, has apparently been renamed as Bradford Park. Is that correct or has it always been known as the Bradford Park prior to the ICC's construction? I don't recall ever seeing or hearing the name of Bradford Park before.
Readers, if you know any details, please e-mail me at norbeckroad@gmail.com. Thank you! In the meantime, I'll e-mail the ICC's spokesperson Ray Feldman for more details on the park's name and amenities. And I'll press for more specific details on when the park will be completed and open to the public.
Stay tuned for an update,
Jesse

Jesse,
ReplyDeleteI hope you were able to get more details on this issue. I have recently seen the park referred to as East Norbeck Local Park by local contractors:
McDonnell Landscaping contract
Long Fence April 1 article
It looks like it's still showing up as Bradford Park in Google Maps, though!
I live on Baileys Lane and was instrumental in the renovation of East Norbeck Park and getting the State to improve the Road, Intersection with Georgia and Sidewalks etc. No one ever discussed with anyone living on Norbeck Changing the name of East Norbeck Park in fact if a name change were to be discussed it should be named Baileys Park after Mr and Mrs Bailey the owners of one of two Professional Negro Baseball fields in Montgomery County the only one that had lights also Mrs Bailey who recently passed away nearing 100 years of age was also built the first and only African American Nursing home in Montgomery County. The Norbeck Community was home to many African Americans during the civil war era to present and the Baileys worked to give the Norbeck Community it't identity and the Park should be named after her!
